Fond memories of some of our favorite vintage discontinued foods we still miss
- Who didn’t adore Jell-O Pudding Pops? Those frozen delights could turn any summer day into an event — so why don’t they make them anymore? (If you’re desperate, you could try one of the various copycat recipes out there and make your own.)
- And what about Kudos bars, the granola bar-chocolate mix that was both a treat and — if you squinted a bit — almost health food? Seriously craving one of those right now!
- Space Food Sticks were something different altogether. Inspired by the space race, they were chewy and a bit strange, but a fun part of snack history.
These discontinued foods and many other treats listed below may have disappeared from the grocery store shelves, but they haven’t vanished from memory. They’re still talked about, still craved, still missed. (Sometimes, you can almost imagine the flavors if you close your eyes and remember.)
In so many ways, it wasn’t just about the taste or the packaging — but about the times, the memories, and the nostaligic feelings these delightful old-fashioned munchies evoke.
Below, we have prepared a sentimental tour of some discontinued foods for those of us who like to wistfully remind ourselves of long-gone treats we can’t have anymore. – BB
People loved all 8 kinds of Snackin' Cake that you mixed, baked, and served in the same pan. Marketed as breakfast replacements, people of all ages loved snacking on these sweet, chocolate cake-like bars. Sure, yes, Kudos were more like candy bars than simply "granola bars," but we're not going to pretend that wasn't a big part of their success. We just wish they were still available today! On shelves during the 70s and 80s, these mini drumstick-shaped crackers had a crispy fried chicken flavor. These Space Food Sticks were unique - as we recall, the texture was sort of like a cross between a Tootsie Roll and a dense cake - and looked sort of like a short Silm Jim. These Pringles corn ships debuted in 1989, and were gone by 1997. These little pateurized process cheese spread bites debuted in 1976, and were pretty much gone by 1980. While not food per se, this appetite suppressant disguised as candy had millions of fans. Here's a whole collection of old-fashioned cake mixes that used to exist, but are no more.18 discontinued vintage foods we miss

Love your work! Please continue and don’t stop with your dive into commercials and ads in the past.
Unfortunately, people will forever associate Jell-O Pudding Pops with Bill Cosby. 😬
Greetings! Thank you for the wonderful post! Two food items that I miss are: Campbell’s Tomato Beef Noodle-O soup. Thank goodness I can look at Andy Warhol’s version to give me those good vibes! Another one is a cereal I loved in the late 60s. That is a graham cracker cereal called Clackers. I can still remember the taste!
