More than just a place to sleep, this mid-century contemporary bedroom from 1967 had a wide view, thanks to a wall of glass that ran from floor to ceiling.

For privacy or at night, the simple tailored double draperies could be pulled across the windows.

The full-height curtains were made of fabric in a free-form stripe, colored with a blend of neutral greens and blues. To recreate this look, use two traverse rods, both mounted on the ceiling.

The two single beds were covered with bedspreads made of a quilted sage green fabric that coordinated with the curtains, carpet, and painted trim.

The far wall was made of layered stone, which, in the popular midcentury modern style, was continued inside from the exterior of this home.

To warm up the stone’s cool effect, a retro freestanding black fireplace was set in the corner, with a bundle of logs nearby.

The ceiling of the room was smooth-finished light wood, and again, this was continued inside from the out.
