Iman: Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful

“My hair was so fragile, I used to hate to wash it.”

“It was so dry and brittle, it took forever to get a comb through it. And it broke off so easily! Then I found Pantene.”

Pantene scientists have discovered a unique pro-vitamin B-5 complex that penetrates your hair and makes it strong and healthy. So your hair can face perms and relaxers. Curling irons and hot combs. And still be shiny and manageable.

Pantene shampoos and conditioners can really make a difference in your hair. You’ll see. Every time you wash it.

Finally — styling products that take my hair as seriously as I do.

Lots of styling products aren’t so hot for your hair. But you don’t want to have to choose between a great style and great hair. And neither do I.

That’s why I use the new stylers from Pantene… Normal and extra-firm hold mousses and hairsprays, and a terrific gel.

“This was my perm two weeks ago.” (1987)

“My hair was so dull and dry! And my conditioner made it droop. I was almost ready to go back to straight hair. But then I discovered Pantene.”

You see, perms break down the structural bonds inside your hair, and reform them to curl it. Which leaves your hair weak and vulnerable. But Pantene has a provitamin B-5 complex that penetrates to reinforce these bonds. And give your hair inner strength. So it’s strong and shining.

So look for Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner for Permed Hair at fine stores. They’ll keep your curls longer. And shinier.”

  1. I love these ads and remember them from my childhood/teen years. That was when looking at a magazine at photos of women did not provoke in us a huge sense of inadequacy; people still looked like people, and it was still okay to be a flawed human being, rather than feeling this invisible sense of having to live up to some ugly representation of perfection that doesn’t exist.

    @PrettyWhiteLady
    Using these photos for a wordpress blog, that will go with my YouTube channel, that will go with my memoir. I’m thinking about creating some really cool wallpaper with them, each one turned to a further 90 degree angle, over and over, row upon row. You’ll have to look very closely to see that it is made from these ads at all.

    I guess you could say that there is an “embedded” message there or something cheese-ball like that…hahaha

    Hope anyone who discovers my channel enjoys their time exploring there….
