Tricks with color turned this warm-climate house into a fresh, cool home.

Although this home was decorated in the 1950s, even today, you could adapt this same idea to a sunny southern exposure room in any climate.

The dominating color in this midcentury modern room was turquoise, kept light and balanced by the liberal use of white.

Touches of tangerine added a note of warmth and coziness to the color scheme, and accents of black added sparkle to the whole interior.

Open-beam construction of the ceiling gave extra height and a sense of spaciousness to the room’s turquoise & orange décor, and added decorative interest suggestive of Japanese architecture.
