In this living room from the late 1950s, wallpaper panels of rich silver leaf were used to cover a folding screen, set against a plain wall.

This is elegant hand-painted paper, but you can see how little was needed to endow this beautiful silver and blue vintage living room with the drama and importance of a mural.

Fiberglas draperies in an abstract blue and white pattern coordinated with the vivid upholstery on the dark wood antique armchairs, along with some of the accessories on the midcentury modern style coffee table.
